Mission: The mission of Desert Mirage High School is to teach with passion, love, and creativity, thereby empowering students to believe in their dreams, persevere through trials, and have courage to choose their own destinies.

2. What do we need to do to achieve our vision? This would define our mission.

This a is a wonderful idea, but the only way I feel the students and teachers can achieve this mission is to take responsibility for their actions. Do we as a school and as an individual hold fast to the rules, to the ESLR's, to actions that we expect the students to follow? If we do as an individual and as a school, then the students will follow in these same footsteps. It is then that these students will feel safe to attack challenges and go for their dreams. of course, this is only an opinon.

In order to achieve this mission we need to collaborate as a faculty to develop the most up to date, successful strategies available to provide to our students.

Be brave and put your name with the comments. Yes we need to take responsibility and most teachers do. We have an incredible staff and administrators that support our teachers and students more than I have seen in all my years as a parent or a teacher. (lots of years) The ESLRs are great and most teachers jump at a chance to help the students achieve them. Most of the students here want to learn and apperciate our efforts and presence too. Things may not be perfect, but these kids really deserve a chance to make their dreams come true and have the potential to really succeed in life.

I second what Pat said word-for-word. I couldn't have said it better.

I personally don't like words like passion, and love in our mission. they are way too subjective and abstract for all of us to be in it together. I believe our mission is to challenge every student to improve their community and to be a lifelong learner.

I agree with Pat as well. The environment here is one that makes me feel as though I'm a part of something important, life-changing...a personal mission. In helping students define their lives, I, myself, define my own. DM is not solely about helping students, it is about changing people...all people. We are our own, but still ONE.

To achieve highest quality teaching, teachers have to prepare, plan, collaborate, monitor progress, and implement best practices as much as possible. Teachers do this when they have a vested interest in the children they teach. So our mission should some how state to maintain a vested interest in our student population.
