DMHS has established itself as an evolutionary school, one that changes to meet the needs and demands of the student population. The staff is fearless, collaborative, dedicated and works with passion and dedication to implore students to higher standards while meeting the standards.

test wise and number wise we obviously grew according to the data. but we all know that those numbers are really the very tip of the process we took to get there. This year we accomplished to keep it together despite all the challenges and kept student learning at the forefront.

WE (All stakeholders) have put DMHS on the academic and athletic map. It has been a collaborative effort on all fronts. The beneficiaries (the students) are the ones that will reap the benefits of all our hard work and effort for the betterment of our students to become the productive citizens we expect.

We have set the bar higher academically as we focus on standards rather than on following textbooks. DMHS continues to progress quickly, as we are expecting students to perform at a higher level and we are increasing the number of students we are sending to college. Success on the athletic side of school as Softball has advanced in CIF for the first time, two league championships in wrestling and soccer, the first ever swim team, boys tennis team going on to CIF. Special thanks for the athletic coaches as we are in a league that calls for extensive traveling and long hours.

We've accomplished many things this year as a school community. WASC is the first thing that comes to mind. The way all stake-holders embraced the challenge to maintain a standards based curriculum and embody the ESLR's was a unifying and uplifting process that will carry us into the next school year.

1. More parent involvement - Organizing parent workshops on Gang Awareness, AB540, Math, and on Post High School etc.
2. Completing the Pyramid of Intervention
3. Working in our PLC's in how to develop and looking at data to guide in struction.
4. Each department working together, and as a whole in supporting each content area.
5. Creating common standards base instruction, lesson plans, and assessments.
6. The implementation of the whiteboard and utilizing the whiteboard configuration as a tool for student/teacher interaction.
7. Identifying and placing our at-risk students, ELs and CELT Levels 1 and 2 students in appropriate intervention classes in Math and English.
8. ESLR's

Time will ultimately tell that this school year was indeed a monumental one in terms of strides made for our students and professional careers. From this pivotal stretch will bloom a motherlode of teaching productivity and student achievement, ultimately displaying the wonderous development and skill of our students - but it is essential to allow creativity and genious to be overlaid upon our standardized test scores - we must each soul-search with this basic question in mind: Why did I become an educator in the first place?...

This year we have accomplished quite a bit. We have worked collaboratively to truly understand where we sit as a school, defining our areas of strength and areas of growth. Moreover, I feel that we now have a better understanding of our school, our students, and our community. It is good to see where we stand, and where we need to improve. Also, it was very good to see how much we have grown as a school community, in and out of the classroom.

This year there was an incredible amount of work accomplished by DMHS staff. It was great to see how staff members are committed to help students achieve to their fullest. Next year hopefully teachers will continue to have the same enthusiasm to continue to make Desert Mirage a successful school!

We were able to get through this year with the help of Lucy thorugh WASC. We were able to implement the tardy policy which we have shown that it was a big improvement but there is pleanty of room to grow and make it better.

Testing is done and over with. We have so far met the participatio rate with 97.3% students taking the CST's. Tomorrow is the Physical Fitness make-up for 9th graders. We could not have done it with out each other doing our part. I can't wait for the results. I know it will show much improvement, just like we've seen it already with CELDT and CAHSEE. Land of the 600's here we come. We wont stay for long. We will contimue on to the land of the 700's...

DMHS improved significantly on the Math CAHSEE with a 39.2% prof.& adv (380-450), and 28% Basic (350-379), together that made 67.2% pass rate. DMHS has room to grow in ELA with a 25.2% prof. & adv (380-450), and 36.2% basic (350-379). And I know we will do better on the CST's. This means we have improved, but need to do better yet. I attribute this growth to the work we've done in the PLC's, the work we've done in departments school wide. The overall aware factor with all major tests like CELDT, CST's, & CAHSEE.
