3 Mission Questions

1.If we expect all students to learn, WHAT is it we expect them to learn? (What do we want them to do?)

2. HOW will we know if they are learning it? (How will we know if they are succeeding?)

3. What will we do when they DON'T? (What will we do to ensure success?)

PLUS:
4. How will we engage students in their own learning?

Mr. Gustavo Sandoval
This is a mission statement I wrote for a project for one of my masters class at CSUSB
The mission(Desert Mirage High School) is to teach the basic skills needed to succeed beyond high school regardless of the path the student will take. Ensuring that every student develops the skills and knowledge to succeed as an independent thinker, life-long learner, and productive, ethical global citizen, by creating collaborative learning communities of caring, committed, qualified staff, working in partnership with diverse families and our community to assure each student equal access to student-focused learning environments.

What are students expected to learn and how is this knowledge going help them in life? Students are taught material that comes from books. Where is the cultural, spiritual, and religious learning? Where do they learn how to get through life? What if students want to be life smart, not book smart?
